[Customer Case Study] On-site survey time reduced to 1/12 of the previous amount. How 3D technology cut store renovation work by up to 90%

▼Highlights of this case study

Challenge: The process from on-site surveys to drawing creation took up to 12 hours, and missed measurements and repeat visits had become the norm.
Solution: By using iPad scanning and outsourcing drawing creation, we streamlined the entire process from on-site surveys to drawing creation.
Results: Work time was reduced by up to approximately 90%. On-site surveys are now completed by a single person in 30 minutes, enabling a zero-rework operation.

About SANPUKU Future Co., Ltd.

♦ Promoting Digital Transformation in the Home Renovation and Real Estate Sectors

SANPUKU Future Co., Ltd. is a real estate company specializing in the renovation of rental properties and tenant brokerage.
With a large portfolio of properties, the company is focusing on streamlining site surveys, drawing preparation, and proposal development as key priorities.

Challenges Before Implementing Scanat

♦︎A significant amount of man-hours and rework are required from the site survey through to the creation of drawings

Our previous store renovation projects faced the following challenges:

  • Site survey: 2–4 hours (1–2 people)
  • Approximately 5 hours for drawing creation and review (2 people)
  • Return visits due to forgotten measurements or photos
  • Additional work to verify the consistency between the drawings and the site

As a result, each project required approximately 6 to 12 hours of work, from on-site surveys to drawing preparation.

How We Discovered Scanat and Why We Chose It

♦︎ Addressing the management challenge of "wanting to focus on design work"

The decision to implement this system was based on the belief that "designers should be able to focus on their core design work."

In our previous workflow, creating as-built drawings required a significant amount of time for on-site measurements and photography, followed by drafting back at the office. As a result, designers were consistently unable to devote sufficient time to the renovation planning—the very task they should have been focusing on.

In response to these challenges, we decided Scanat because we determined that it would significantly reduce the time and effort required for everything from on-site surveys to drawing creation (
), thereby creating an environment where we could focus on design work.

Benefits of Implementation

♦︎ Reduce on-site surveys and drawing preparation by up to approximately 90%

[Site Survey]
Before implementation: Took 2–4 hours and required 1–2 people
After implementation: Reduced to approximately 30 minutes and can be completed by one person
→ Site records are completed simply by scanning with an iPad

[Drawing Creation]
Before implementation: Took approximately 5 hours and required two people to complete
After implementation: By outsourcing drawing creation, the creation time is now 0 minutes. The process now takes only 30 minutes for review.
→ Drawing creation is outsourced; the process is now complete with just a review

[Total Effort]
Before implementation: Approx. 6–12 hours
After implementation: Approx. 60 minutes
→ Resulting in a reduction of approx. 85–92%

Future Outlook

♦︎ A Shift Toward "Documenting On-Site Operations with Data"

Scanat,
we have shifted from the traditional workflow of “visit the site → record data → create drawings” to a process that “digitizes the site as-is.”

Going forward, we plan to expand the use of this system to more properties and projects, with the aim of standardizing our operations and further improving efficiency.
