[Update] Now supports batch area measurement for sloped and uneven surfaces

nat, Inc nat has released new features for its 3D space scanning app, “ Scanat.”

In this update, we have significantly enhanced the area measurement functionality, adding new support for calculating areas on slopes and for batch area measurements of spaces (ceilings, walls, and floors) that include irregularities such as columns.

Conventional area measurement functions were primarily designed for horizontal and vertical planes, so in complex spaces, it was necessary to measure each surface individually and then manually combine the results.

With this update, the system automatically recognizes the three-dimensional shape and slope of a space, allowing you to calculate the exact surface area in a single step without the need for subsequent corrections or manual calculations.

As a result, this solution helps improve the efficiency and safety of measurement and quantity surveying tasks in the following field settings, where manual measurements and calculations used to be time-consuming.

  • Accurate cost estimation for interior finishing materials (such as wallpaper and paint) in construction and renovation projects
  • Identifying Complex Burn Patterns Extending from the Floor to the Ceiling in Fire Investigations Conducted by Fire Departments and Other Agencies
  • Surveys of the current conditions of slopes and sloping ground that are difficult to access, for civil engineering, landscaping, and roofing projects
  • Space measurement services for complex-shaped spaces such as warehouses and factories
(*Simply capture the scan data to get immediate results via the app or on the web)

🔳Benefits to Expect from the New Area Measurement Feature

By eliminating the need for individual measurements of each surface and processing the entire space at once,
it simultaneously achieves a significant reduction in the time required for tasks such as creating estimates and an improvement in accuracy.

Accurate Measurement of Slopes and Inclined Surfaces:
By automatically recognizing non-flat, sloped surfaces—such as inclined ground, rooftops, and embankments—and calculating their actual surface area, this system enables accurate quantity assessment simply by scanning from a safe location, even in areas where direct measurement with a tape measure is dangerous or difficult, thereby ensuring worker safety.

Supported Platforms: This feature is available on both Scanat (iOS) Scanat. (*You can continue using Scanat Web with your current account.)
