TOPPAN Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hideharu Maro) and nat (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: 劉 栄駿; nat ), nat services centered on Scanat — Scanat that allows anyone to easily and accurately digitize physical spaces—entered into a capital and business alliance at the end of November 2024 to jointly develop services in the field of spatial simulation for the construction industry.
Through this partnership, we will integrate the knowledge networks of " GAMEDIOS® BIM Option"—a BIM (※1) data management service for building materials and equipment manufacturers provided by the Toppan Group— nat " Scanat," a high-precision AI surveying application provided nat. By developing a spatial simulation service that links BIM data with high-precision 3D spatial data, we aim to support productivity improvements and the advancement of digital transformation (DX) in the construction industry.
In recent years, as the construction industry faces labor shortages and an aging workforce, there has been a growing need for initiatives to improve productivity and promote digital transformation (DX). Since fiscal year 2016, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has been promoting the “i-Construction” initiative—which includes ICT-based construction—as a means to enhance productivity at construction sites. In 2024, "i-Construction 2.0" was formulated to take these efforts a step further. With the goal of reducing the labor required at construction sites by at least 30%—or increasing productivity by 1.5 times—by fiscal year 2040, the initiative is working to automate construction sites.
In September 2022, the TOPPAN Group launched " GAMEDIOS® BIM Option," a BIM service designed for building materials and equipment manufacturers. This service enables users to easily handle BIM data without requiring specialized knowledge. We have proposed utilizing BIM data not only for standard drawing applications but also for sales promotion through 3D simulators, AR, and the metaverse, as well as for operational efficiency tools such as 2D/3D drawing output.
With a mission of "Share { the REAL }," nat develops tools and platforms that allow anyone to easily share everything in the world—from "spaces" to "objects"—in 3D reality, helping to boost productivity and unleash creativity. The high-precision AI surveying application " Scanat " allows anyone to easily record and measure real-world spaces simply by scanning objects as if filming a video. It helps improve operational efficiency in spatial verification and documentation tasks across various industries, including construction, real estate, manufacturing, and local government.
Through this collaboration, nat Toppan nat will combine nat knowledge and networks to jointly develop services in the field of spatial simulation for the construction industry. We aim to promote the use of ICT in the construction industry and contribute to improving productivity and other areas.
・GAMEDIOS® BIM Option" and "Scanat "
By integrating high-precision 3D spatial data—surveyed with millimeter-level accuracy using natScanat —with BIM data for building materials and equipment managed through the TOPPAN Group’s “GAMEDIOS® BIM Option” service for manufacturers, we aim to develop and provide a spatial simulation service that enables the simulation of building materials and equipment within a digital twin of the real world.Previously, proposals for spatial simulations of building materials and equipment were based on photographic or virtual data. By conducting these simulations on high-precision 3D spatial data derived from real-world survey measurements, we can now deliver realistic designs and proposals. Furthermore, by leveraging BIM data, simulations can incorporate information such as color, size, and price.
・By cross-promoting each other’s services, we aim to ICT utilization
We will cross-promote each company’s services to the customers of both companies.By integrating " Scanat," which serves various industries including construction, real estate, manufacturing, and local governments, with " GAMEDIOS® " and " GAMEDIOS® BIM Option," which focus on the building materials and equipment sectors, we will support the expansion of BIM data and ICT utilization across the entire construction industry—covering everything from on-site tasks such as surveying and area calculation to the management and utilization of BIM data.
nat will leverage their respective services, expertise, and networks in the construction industry to accelerate the provision of various services and solutions—including spatial simulation services for the construction sector—and support the promotion of ICT adoption in the industry.
