Scanat: Complete Field Surveys “With Just a Smartphone—All by Yourself”
SANPUKU Future Co., Ltd. is a real estate company specializing in the renovation of rental properties and tenant brokerage.
As it handles a large number of properties, the company is focusing on streamlining its on-site surveys, drawing preparation, and proposal processes as key priorities.
Our previous store renovation projects faced the following challenges:
As a result, each project required approximately 6 to 12 hours of work, from on-site surveys to drawing preparation.
The decision to implement this system was based on the belief that “designers should be able to focus on their core design work.”
In our previous workflow, creating as-built drawings required a significant amount of time for on-site measurements and photography, followed by drawing preparation back at the office. As a result, designers were consistently unable to devote sufficient time to reviewing renovation plans—the very task they should have been focusing on.
In response to these challenges, we decided Scanat because we determined that it would significantly reduce the workload—from on-site surveys to drawing creation—
, thereby creating an environment where we could focus on design work.
[On-Site Survey]
Before implementation: Took 2–4 hours and required 1–2 people
After implementation: Time reduced to about 30 minutes and can be completed by one person
→ On-site documentation is completed simply by scanning with an iPad
[Drawing Creation]
Before implementation: Took about 5 hours and required two people to complete
After implementation: By outsourcing drawing creation, the creation time is 0 minutes. The process now takes only 30 minutes for review.
→ Drawing creation is outsourced; the process is completed with a simple review.
[Total Workload]
Before implementation: Approximately 6–12 hours
After implementation: Approximately 60 minutes
→ This results in a reduction of approximately 85–92%
Scanat,
we were able to shift from the traditional workflow of “go to the site → record → create drawings” to a process of “digitizing the site as-is.”
Going forward, we plan to expand the use of this system to more properties and projects, with the aim of standardizing our operations and further improving efficiency.
