About Toriu Construction Co., Ltd.

♦ A local construction company that handles large-scale renovations

Toriu Construction Co., Ltd. is a community-focused construction company specializing in residential renovations.
The company provides comprehensive services—from design and proposals to estimates—particularly for large-scale renovation projects.

Challenges Before Implementing Scanat

♦︎Inefficient business processes designed with repeat visits in mind

Our previous operations faced the following challenges:

  • The site survey was conducted by a team of three people
  • Return visits occurred due to missed measurements or photos
  • Duplicate work: converting hand-drawn sketches into technical drawings
  • On-site inspections are required for every design and proposal

Particularly for large-scale projects, the entire process—from the initial consultation to the proposal— required a significant amount of time , totaling approximately 32 hours.

How We Discovered Scanat and Why We Chose It

♦︎We want to establish a system that allows us to focus on design work

The background to the introduction is that,

  • Managers and senior staff were spending a lot of time handling issues on the front lines
  • I don't have enough time to devote to design and proposal work
  • There are many reworks due to revisits and revisions

Although there were challenges such as these,

  • Eliminate the need for repeat visits
  • Improves the accuracy of information prior to design
  • Anyone can collect site data with the same level of quality

These factors were taken into consideration, leading to the decision to implement the system.

Furthermore, since its implementation, even junior employees have been able to take charge of large-scale projects, which has led to improved productivity across the entire organization.

Benefits of Implementation

♦︎Reduced working hours and improved project response capabilities

[Creating As-Built Drawings (Drawing Preparation)]
Before implementation: Took approximately 8 hours and required two people
After implementation: Reduced to approximately 3 hours

[Creating As-Built Drawings (Drawing Review)]
Before implementation: Took approximately 3 hours and required 2–3 people, including the sales representative and their supervisor
After implementation: Now takes approximately 1 hour and can be completed by the supervisor alone

[Reviewing Proposed Plans]
Before implementation: Took approximately 8 hours to create
After implementation: Reduced to approximately 2 hours, resulting in a 75% cost reduction

[Quotation Creation]
Before implementation: Took approximately 10 hours to create
After implementation: Reduced to approximately 4 hours, resulting in a 60% cost reduction

Future Outlook

♦︎ Moving toward a "design system that does not rely on individuals"

The Scanat has shifted our focus from "tasks dominated by on-site responses" to "tasks that allow us to concentrate on design. "
Going forward, we plan to expand our use of the system to handle an increasing number of projects and streamline staff training.
